Real Madrid has officially announced the departure of central defender Jesús Vallejo, whose contract expires on June 30, 2025. The club confirmed that the 28-year-old will not be offered a renewal, marking the end of a ten-year association that began with high expectations but ultimately saw limited first-team involvement.

Vallejo joined Real Madrid in 2015 from Real Zaragoza for €5 million, heralded as one of Spain’s most promising defensive talents. However, his time at the Santiago Bernabéu was characterized by a series of loan spells, including stints at Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Granada. Despite these challenges, Vallejo managed to make 35 appearances for Real Madrid’s senior team and was part of squads that secured 13 major titles, including two UEFA Champions League trophies, four FIFA Club World Cups, and a La Liga title.

In a statement, Real Madrid expressed gratitude for Vallejo’s professionalism and dedication, wishing him success in his future endeavors.

Vallejo’s departure aligns with a broader restructuring at Real Madrid, which includes the appointment of Xabi Alonso as head coach and the signings of defenders Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

As a free agent, Vallejo is now exploring options to continue his career, with reports linking him to clubs such as Rayo Vallecano, Granada, and Mallorca.

While his tenure at Real Madrid may not have unfolded as initially envisioned, Vallejo departs with a commendable collection of titles and the respect of teammates and fans alike.
